City Commission, Sanford, Florida

The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Session in the
City Manager's Conference Room in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 4:00
o'clock P. M. on March 18, 1985.
Present: Mayor-Commissioner Bettye D. Smith
Commissioner John Y. Mercer
Commissioner David T. Farr
Commissioner Bob Thomas
City Manager W. E. Knowles
City Clerk H. N. Tamm, Jr.
Absent: Commissioner Milton E. Smith
City Attorney William L. Colbert
The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
Mr. Julian Roberts, Executive Director of the Tri-County League of Cities,
appeared to explain the activities of this organization and to request the City to
participate as a member. Mr. Roberts stated that 18 of the 22 cities in Orange, Osceola and
Seminole Counties were members, and which entitled them to automatic membership in the
Central Florida League of Cities, comprised of 61 Cities from 6 counties including the
aforesaid counties and Lake, Volusia and Brevard counties.
The City Manager submitted a letter from the Florida League of Cities supporting
the Tri-County League and commending their cooperation with the Florida League's efforts.
The Commission discussed and designated for the Agenda, items as follows:
1. Appropriation of $5,000.00 to purchase a used copier from the Police
Benevolent Association.
2. Termite treatment for the Chamber of Commerce Building.
3. Drilling of additional wells at the Oregon Avenue well field site.
4. Preparation of a Resolution denying funds for dues or travel to any State
Association supporting legislative action contrary to the Florida League of
Cities Program supported by the City.
5.Program for the removal of junk cars.
6.Appropriation of $500.00 for advertising the City's Clean-up Program.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
