The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Organizational
Session in the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on January
6, 1987.

The meeting was called to order by the Chairman.
There being no old business to be transacted by the outgoing board, Commissioner
Thomas moved that the meeting adjourn sine die. Seconded by Commissioner Mercer and carried
by the vote of the Commission as follows:

The City Clerk then administered the Oath of Office to Commissioner-Elect A. A.
McClanahan and Commissioner-Elect Whitey Eckstein; each signed the Oath and Acceptance of
Office and were seated as Commissioners of the City of Sanford, Florida.
On motion of Commissioner Mercer, seconded by Commissioner Thomas and carried by
the vote of the Commission as follows:

RESOLUTION NO. 1466
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
THANKING AND COMMENDING MILTON E. SMITH FOR
HIS SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA
AS A MEMBER OF THE SANFORD CITY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, MILTON E. SMITH first took the Oath of Office
and was seated as a City Commissioner on January 6, 1981; and
WHEREAS, during his term of office, MILTON E. SMITH was
appointed as the Mayor's representative to atten the East Central
Florida Regional Planning Council Metropolitan Planning Organization
meetings held March 25, April 29, May 20, July 1, August 19, 1982, and
January 27, February 23, April 21, May 19, and June 23, 1983; and
WHEREAS, MILTON E. SMITH was appointed as the City's
representative to the Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors for 1982
and 1983; and
WHEREAS, MILTON E. SMITH was designated the City
Commission's voting delegate at the Florida League of Cities meeting
October 22-24, 1981; and

WHEREAS, during his term of office, MILTON E. SMITH was
appointed and served as City Commission's representative on the East
Central Florida Regional Planning Council Project Review Committee,
City Commission Liaison to the Police Department, and as a member of
the North Citizens Advisory Committee Study Area for Seminole County
Transportation Program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City of Sanford, Florida, thanks and
commends MILTON E. SMITH for his dedicated and faithful service to the
citizens of the City of Sanford, Florida during his term of office on
the Sanford City Commission, not only in his regular Commission duties
but also in his capacity as City representative to various committees
and boards, and extends to him its best wishes for the future.
SECTION 2: That this Resolution be recorded in the
official minutes of the City of Sanford, Florida, and that a copy be
presented to MILTON E. SMITH.
PASSED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of January, A.D. 1987.
The Mayor made a presentation of Resolution No. 1466, and an engraved tray to
Milton E. Smith in appreciation for his service to the City and as a member of the Sanford
City Commission.

SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA AS A
MEMBER OF THE SANFORD CITY COMMISSION.
WHEREAS, DAVID T. FARR first took the Oath of Office and
was seated as a City Commissioner on January 2, 1979; and
WHEREAS, during his term of office, DAVID T.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That the City of Sanford, Florida, thanks and

~ Commissioner Mercer as the City Commission representative on the East Central
Florida Regional Planning Council.
~Commissioner Eckstein as the City Commission liaison to the General Henry Shelton
Sanford Museum and Library.
~Commissioner McClanahan as the City Commission representative on the East Central
Florida Regional Planning Council Metropolitan Planning Organization.
~ Mayor Smith as the City's representative on CALNO and as the City Commission
representative on the Board of Directors of the Greater Sanford Chamber of
Commerce.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
