A Public Hearing was held in accordance with Notice published in the Evening Herald on July 11, 1988, as follows: June 28, 1988 NOTICE OF'PROCEEDING FOR CLOSING, VACATING AND 'ABANDONING AN ALLEY AND A STREET TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN: You will take notice that the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:00 o'clock P. M. on July 25, 1988, in the City Commission Room at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, will consider and determine whether or not the City will close, vacate and abandon any right of the City and the public in and to all of that certain North/South alley lying between Elm Avenue and Laurel Avenue and between West 15th Street and West 18th Street and all of Laurel Avenue lying between West 15th Street and West 18th Street, further described as follows:. That certain North/South alley lying between Lots 39 through 57 and Lots 58 through 76 AND That portion of Laurel Avenue lying between Lots 20 through 38 and Lots 39 through 57. All in Amended Plat of Orange Heights, PB 4, PG 84 of the Public Records of Seminole' County, Florida. FLORIDA, COMMENDING SERGEANT TOM BERNOSKY FOR HIS HEROIC ACTIONS OF SATURDAY, JULY 23, 1988, IN THE RESCUE OF A THREE YEAR OLD CHILD. WHEREAS, SERGEANT TOM BERNOSKY is a policeman who has been employed with the (17) years; and WHEREAS, in Sanford the early Police Department for seventeen 23, 1988, a fire was discovered West 12th Street; and WHEREAS, it was determined Jessica Jackson was trapped in the burning residence; and WHEREAS, at great risk and without regard for personal safety, SERGEANT TOM BERNOSKY entered the residence and, with the help of Patrolman First Class Agostino morning hours on Saturday, July in a residence located at 1010 that three (3) year old his own burning Lieutenant Ralph Russell and Fontana, pulled the unconscious Jessica Jackson from the residence; and WHEREAS, the heroic efforts of SERGEANT TOM BERNOSKY were above and beyond the call of duty and resulted in the saving of human life. Faison, City Manager, be authorized to execute said documents.
