January 14 at 7:30 P M19 /+6 24t The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida met in regular session at theClty Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 7:30 o'clock P M. January 14,1946. Present: Commissioner H. James Gut, Mayor. Gee. D. Bishop " W.C.Hlll " Robert A Williams City Attorney Fred R. Wllson City Manager & Clerk H N Sayer Chief of Police R.G. Wllliams Absent: Commissioner Lea R. Lesher. Neetlng called to order by the Chairman. Current invoices and payrolls for month of December 1945, properly audited and vouchered as evidenced by Voucher Nos. ~539 thru 8652, submitted, examined, approved and payment authorized. Nonthly reports of Streets, Sanitation, Health, Water, Police, Fire and Library Departments for month of December 1945, submitted and examined. Financial statement and statement of revenues and expenditures during month of December, 19~5 , submitted and examined. Bank Statements in all accounts for month of December 1945, properly reconciled, submitted and examined. Application next received from E.L/Davls, white, for permit to operate a taxi- cab, and on recommendation of Chief of Police, same was approved. On motion duly carried, the Commission next approved the purchase for Fire Department of venetian blinds from Seminole Venetian Blinds Company at cost of $70.90. On motion of Commissioner Hill, seconded by Commissioner Bishop and carried, the Clerk was next authorized to obtain bids for furnishing ~O0 feet of 1½" Fire Hose for the Fire Departms nt. On motion duly carried, the Commission next autorized the employment of R.H.Beckham as grader operator at salary of $40.00 per week to fill vacancy created by resignation of Grady Eubanks. On motion duly carried, the City Nanag~was next' authorized to inspect surplus automotive equipment at Camp Blanding and to place order for two pickup trucks if he finds such equipment in good condition at a reasonable price. Resignation of Hr. Lea R. Lesher as member of Zoning Adjustment Board, effective as of January l, 1946, next submitted. Thereupon Commissioner Bishop moved that Mr. Edward Hlggins be appointed as member of Zoning Adjustment Board to fill vacancy created by resignation of Mr. Lesher. Seconded by Commissioner Williams ad carried. Resignation of Mr Lea R. Lesher as member of City Recreation Committee, next submitted, and on motion duly adopted, same was accepted. Application next received from R.A. Lasater, Apopka, to lease the airport for the purpose of operating a flight training school, at such time it is declared surplus by the Navy, and same was ordered filed. FLORIDA, January 14 ~t .7:30 P M 19 46 On recommendation of Fire Chief Cleveland, the Commission next authaized the salary of fireman B.H.Glles increased from $125.00 to $130.OO per month effective as of January 16, 1946, On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the renewal of fire in- surance on machinery and equipment a~ water plant and wells for term of three years with Frank L Woodruff Jr. There being no further business the meeting then adjourned until 2:00 P.N. January 24, 1946.
