012446:MINUTES CiTY COMMISSION, SANfORD, FLORID^, January 24 at 2: co 19 ~ 243 The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida at 2:P.M. January 24, 1946. Present: Commissioner H.James Gut. Mayor # George D.Bishop " W C Hill " Lea R. Lesher " Robert A Williams City Manager & Clerk, H.N. Sayer. Meeting called to order by the Chairman. Consideration next given to application of Mr Roy Browning, DeLeon Springs,Florida to construct and operate a seaplane base in Lake Monroe opposite Fort Mellon Park, or, the City owned property immediately-east of the Mayfalr Hotel. Thereupon after considerable discussion, it was the opinion of the Commission that any seaplane base in 'Lake Monroe should be operated in connection with the municipal airport because there will not be sufficent airplane activities in Sanford to support both, and on motion duly adopted, action on Mr. Browning's application was deferred until such time the Sanford Naval Base is ~eleased to the City for use as a public airport. On motion duly adopte~, the Commission next granted the Sanford Baseball Association the privilege of selling advertising space on the fence surrounding the Baseball Park for the purpose of raising funds to organize a baseball team to play in the Florida State League. On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized the decorative street lights to be turned on each Saturday night. There being no further business the meeting adjourned. Attest.' .... C~er~
