The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in adjourned session at
the City Hall in the City of Sanford, Florida, at 2:00 o'clock P.M.MarCh 5, 1946.
Present: Commissioner H.James Gut, Mayor.

Absent: Commissioner W.C.Hill
Meeting called to order by the Chairman.
Consideration next given to objections received from several citizens to the
City leasing a site in Fort Mellon Park to Mr. James Rivers to construct and operate a
radio broadcasting station.
Thereupon after considerable discussion, it was the opinion of the Commission
that Mr. Rivers should be invited to Sanford to consider selecting another site for his
proposed broadcasting station, and also to discuss terms of the lease agreement inasmuch
as there were also abjections to the City granting him a 99 year lease, and on motion duly
adopted, the Mayor was requested to direct a letter of invitation to Mr. Rivers.
On motion duly carried the Commission next authorized the sale to Jack Morrison
of Lot ? of Block 2 Mayfair, at price of $200.00
On motion duly carried, the Clerk was next authorized to make application to the
County to purchase Lot 8 of Block 8 of Tier 19, Seminole Park for the purpose of recre-
ation facilities for colored people. This lot having been foreclosed by the County for
tax Liens.
On motion of Commissioner Bishop, seconded by 6ommissioner Lesher and carried,
the Commission next appointed Geo. A. Speer Jr. as a member of the City Recreation Com-
mittee to fill the vacancy created by resignation of Lea R. Lesher.
Letter next read from Mrs Elton J.Moughton, Librarian, requesting an increase
in salary and same was ordered filed.
On motion duly carried, the Commission next autorized the redemption of State &
County',tax certificate No. 389, sale of June ?, 1926, at cost of $?0.99, held by Frank
Evans ~against the following described property purchased, subject to aforesaid tax certif-
icate, from Mrs Eva Taylor under date of July 15,1941, for the development of the airport:
The W 1/2 of S W 1/4 ( Less E. 15 acres of S 1/2) of Section 5 Township 20 Range
31 E.
On recommendation of Chief of Police Williams, the Commission next authorized the
salary of Willie Sutton, colored police officer, increased from $100, O0 to $110.O0 per month.
On motion duly carried, the Commission next authorized an advance to Willie Sutton
of $100.00 on his salary , to be repaid to the City at rate of $5.00 per week.
There being no further business the meeting adjourned.
