"Duke" Adamson Steve Cooke, Director of Aviation, Sanford Airport Authority, called the meeting to order. ~Briefing on Airport improvements and plans. Steve Cooke reported that airport improvements include the 2.4 million dollar/50,000 square foot International Arrivals Building, which is currently under construction and scheduled for completion within thirty (30) days; and Terminal renovation improvements which will provide a baggage claim area, ticket and car rental area for charter air service, with the executive offices upstairs. Further, other elements of the Airport construction/improvement project include a four-lane access road north of Marquette Avenue, a two-lane access road south of Marquette Avenue to Silver Lake Drive, which will be landscaped with native vegetation thus providing low maintenance, and parking accommodations. Also, the primary funding sources for these projects are Florida Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration grants; with very little financial impact to the airport. Mr. Cooke distributed an information packet containing flight schedules and future plans for the facility, and stated that the marketing program is in place to attract international air charter services and tour operators, and once the project is completed 10-15 flights, mainly charter flights, are anticipated per day. Further, the Central Florida Regional Airport is convenient to hotels, restaurants, and shopping; offers fast customs clearance, and a superior facility at a fraction of the cost compared to surrounding areas. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.~ Attest: City ClerkU ~
