03221983 PERC mins MINUTES Local Option Public Employee Relations Commission March 22, 1983 7 :00 P.M. Members Present: Garnett White Howard Whelchel Tom Hunt Others Present: Steve Harriett, Assistant City Manager Dave Richeson, ( Richeson & Brown Law Firm) The Minutes from the last meeting of Oct. 9, 1980 were read and filed. The meeting of the members of the Local Option PERC was requested by the Assistant City Manager for the purpose of discussion of the reappointment of members Garnett White and Howard Whelchel and the vacancies that need to be filled in order to comply with the Ordinance, which stipulates five (5) members. According to the original appointment, the membership term of Tom Hunt expired Jan. 1982 and since that time Mr. Hunt has been transferred from the area and is not available to serve on the Commission. The memberships of Mr. White and Mr. Whelchel expired in Jan., 1983. Mr. White and Mr. Whelchel agreed to con- tinue service on the Commission if reappointed. If Mr. White and Mr. Whelchel are reappointed it was determined that there are still three vacancies on the Commission at this time and the following names were suggested as possible appointments: William P. Layer; Bruce Berger; Manley Rusho; Russ Kitner; Larry Strickler; Al Mc Millen; Dick Mamele and Steve Coover. Mr. Harriett asked the representative from Richeson & Brown to review the overall status of the Local PERC to ensure it's compliance with the State PERC Rules & Regulations. Attorney Jim Brown is to contact Mr. Harriett for specifics. Mr. Harriett said he would review the ordinance requirements as to board appointments and submit the suggested names to the City Manager for consideration and would notify the members of another meeting when a full board has been es- tablished.
