The SIB would like to ,dace the ribbons alono East First Street from Oak Avenue to ;anford Avenue including the Magnolia Mall. The date of the ceremory will be October 14. Mrs. Meyers is to appear before the City Commission October 8 for their permission. The maintenance of the ribbons will be handled by the different clubs with the Bich School. Re- certification for year of 1990 is due to the Tallahassee office by December 30, 1990. Mr. Russi would like to plan or October of replacing tie Crape Myrtle trees with the Live Oaks by the first of October. Minutes approved from meeting of May 2, 1990. II. New Member Jean Skipper replacement for vacancy of Judy Wimbish. Has been excused from this meeting due to reunion. A visitor today, Ms. Pat Atkins. Would like to be more involved with the SIB. III. Projects: a. Park on Park; The restrooms are just about complete, Authorize the Grounds Maintenance Division for landscaping concept not more than $200.00. Donation of a climbing rose bush from Ms. Pringle. The bird baths have been installed and the water fountains will be installed. To complete the lights for • the park, estimated cost of $1,600.00 for electrical. The sidewalk has been completed. The handizapped water fountain needs to be lowered. After completion, dedication service for the Gardener family who donated the free standing water fountain will be scheduled. b. Crape Myrtle, Downtown. Have received 3 letters in - eference to the relocating the trees. From the Horticultural :.enter, Division of Forestry, and our on Master Gardener, wishing that the trees would not be moved until Fall /Winter season. One recommendation from Jerry Herman, would be to accept III the trees, and hold them at the Nursery, since Davidson's Tree Farm is wanting to move their nursery up north. Mrs. Yancey will contact Mr. Russi to see how we can hold the trees without moving the crape myrtle at this time. c. Civic Center. No contact or representative from P. Sanchez for a concept on the Civic center. d. Tree Plan. Will be on the Workshop Agenda for the • preparation plan of Ray Sage, June 25, 1990, 4::000'p.m. III. Recognition Award. Several complaints received from the public sa t the lake. The lake is without water, dried from the heat, be dredged at this time while it is empty. There is rules and regulations to follow from DER /EPA departments ofsthenstate. Also, the City does not have dredging equipment, have to be hired from outside services. Minutes of April 4, 1990 were approved by members present. II. Projects: 1 a. Park on Park. The fountains have been ordered from a local vendor. Funds for the fountains, Mr. James Gardner, memory of mother, and Donny Lee for the Paralized Vetrans. The locations of the fountains, one against the wall of the restrooms, second placed near fence of playground on east side. First motion from Connie Williams, seconded by Denny Hayes that if the funds not available through Danny Lee, that the funds may be extracted from the Park on Park contributed funds. b. Downtown -Crape Myrtle Trees. Tony Russi would like to do the implentation of the last 10 trees in June. Master Gardner, Bill Nuckols, recommends that the trees should not be moved in the middle of summer, but towards the fall season, so that the shock of the tree would not kill the tree. The Crape Myrtle Trees are an unusual kind of Crape Myrtle and very rare to locate. c. Budget allocations. Funds still available for concept of the Civic Center, Median Project of 17 -92 & Seminole Boulevard. The Civic Center is being renovated at this time and will be ready soon. A request to Patricio to do a concept for • the Civic Center. Funds available for Civic Center; $7,400.00. The project of 17 -92 & Seminole Boulevard, request to Ray Sage to draw a concept for the project. Funds available; $7,349.00. This project would not be implemented until after October, 1990. Would have to receive a permit for DOT since that '.is a state maintained highway. d. Tree Plan. Ray Sage would like to implement a project for the remaining funds of $5,750.00. His concept includes purchasing trees that are 5' to 6', approximate cost of $10.00- $15.00 each. Advertise using different sections of the City, first being Georgetown area. Homeowners would be able to sign up for a tree to be planted along the r /w, with the homeowner's maintaing watering, fertilize, trimming of the tree. The implementation of the trees would be done by the Master Gardners of Seminole County and SIB board members. First motion of approval of concept ' and requesting City Commission approval, Denny Hayes, seconded by Connie Williams. Members present: Martha Yancey, Eliza Pringle, Ray Sage, Bill Gielow, Connie Williams, Juanny Mercer. Members absent: Denny Hayes, Martha Crosier. I. Minutes of April 4,1990, approved by members. II. Projects: a. Trash Bash, great comments, project went well, members of organizations, clubs, showed during rain to pick up trash along r /w. Would like to present each club and school, with certificates of appreciation for jobs well done. Motion made by Ray Sage, seconded Eliza Pringle. b. Persimmon Avenue. Trees are doing well, pictures will be taken of the trees for publicity, letter of thanks to the Public Works /Grounds Maintenance Division for their part. c. Downtown- Trees. The implementation of the laurel oaks with the quality specimens. The crepe myrtles were placed; 6 at the PWC, 2 placed at nursery, 2 in reserve at the nursery. d. Tree Plan. Members need to look for other sites for placement of trees along streets. They are to come back to the next meeting with locations. e. Park on Park. The bid list for construction of the bathrooms have been sent. Parks Department requested $5,000.00 to start paying for expenses. All concrete material will be donated by Rinker Construction. • III. Recognition Award. For the month of April, Typhoon International, LTD, 501 Persimmon Avenue. Ray Sage has set the time and date for award. For the month of May, Welchel & Howard Accountants, Sanford Avenue. For the month of June, Lakeview Nursing Home, Mellonville Avenue. For the month of July, first motion by Juanny Mercer, seconded by Ray Sage for the Car Lot, 11th Street b Sanford Avenue.
