SIB mins 1988 Spec Mtg SCENIC IMPROVEMENT BOARD SPECIAL MEETING The SIB board met in a special meeting April 14, 1988, III 5:00 p.m., City Commission Conference Room, 5:00 p.m. Members present: Ann Brisson, Martha Yancey, Martha Crosier, Judy Wimbish, Clint Rhodes. Two representatives of civic groups were present; Audrey Williams- Junior Women's League, Dale Weaver - Kiawanas A representative for playground equipment was special guest. He presented different types of playground equip- ment. The materials are pre- manufactured or modular equipment. The presentation involved cost, installation. Discussion of the different ways to develop the playground park. A motion made by Judy Wimbish, to create an all children's park for the City of Sanford, by contacting Robert Leather for more information on development of children's playground. All in favor. Chairperson re- commended that a member of each civic group to be "head" of this project of playground equipment. Suggested that Robbie Robinson - Rotary, Audrey Williams- Junior Women's League, Dale Weaver - Kiawanas to receive information and pass information back to SIB members. Ms. Williams still would like to see that the concept show changes of the playground, closer to the shade of trees on 9th Street and Oak Avenue. ` Mrs. Yancey spoke of meeting with Mr. Faison. She was informed that the SIB is only an advisory board elected by city officials. If interferences occur, the board will be disbanned. The workers of Grounds Maintenance are city employees, not only workers for SIB board. Past meeting, a motion was made not to present any new projects until pending projects are completed. It was recommended that we table the Civic Center project until ' renovations of building is completed. I A mention to Ann Brisson. Nominated for "Roberta Gatchel Award -Woman of the Year. Members signed letter for re- . commendation. Martha Crosier spoke on the seminar that she attended with the City of Orlando. "Keep America Beautiful ". Several programs were discussed for city's benefits. Newspaper and glass recycling. Clean up committees of yards. Meeting adjourned 7:30 p.m. , • L_
