Work Session Minutes August 8, 2005
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Work Session on Monday, August 8, 2005, at 5:00 P.M.,
in the City Manager's Conference Room, 2nd Floor, City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida.

Call to order.
Mayor Kuhn called the meeting to order at 5:04 P. M.
1) Public Safe(y Facilities - presentation by representatives of Architects Design Group, Inc. (ADG).
Keith Reeves presented and discussed a power point presentation regarding construction and cost of a public safety
facility to be located on French Avenue across from Sanford Middle School.
The Commission discussed the anticipated cost of the facility, the need to hold a bond referendum election to be able
to obtain funds to fmance the facility, and whether or not there is sufficient time before November 8 to properly market the facility.
After discussion, the Commission agreed not to hold a bond referendum on November 8,2005, and to request Staff
to provide information including designlbuild options, operational options, space need options, financing options including other sources
of funding, current revenue stream and assets and impact fees, and the inclusion of a communications center in the public safety
building, within sixty days with a progress report in thirty days.
2) Agenda Items - additional information and/or questions.
Mayor Kuhn distributed and discussed the Sanford Chamber of Commerce's proposed banner for the Sanford BikeFest
2005 scheduled for October 22 & 23, 2005. Commissioner Jones said that he would offer the Commission's suggestions to Chamber
President Angelia Gordon.
Planning & Development Services Director Russ Gibson distributed updated Land Development Regulations Schedule
B - Permitted Uses, for Ordinance No. 3950 scheduled for public hearing this evening.
Mayor Kuhn said that tonight she will propose approval of Sanford Housing Authority Board Members Sylvester
Chang, Oscar Redden, Leo Girard, and Barbara Green; and Captain Hargrett as liaison and Vice Mayor Dr. Williams continuance as
City Commission liaison.
City Manager Miller called attention to Consent Agenda items A, B, and C, special events which contain requests for
waivers; he recommended denial of the waivers.
Mayor Kuhn commented that the Orlando Sentinel's All Our Best article named George Toughy Park as the best view
from a front porch.
3) End the meeting.
The Work Session was adjourned at 6:38 P.M.
