1. Reading of the minutes of the regular Civil Service Board meeting
of June 6, 1985.
2. Section 5 of the Civil Service Act, Organization of the Civil Service
Board: Appointment of a Chairman and Board Secretary for election
year June 30, 1985 to June 30, 1986.

Chairman Darby opened the meeting at 8:25 P.M., Tuesday, June 25, 1985
with a quorinc present. The meeting was held in the City Manager's
Conference Room, Sanford City Hall.
The Chairman opened the discussion re: Appointment of a Board Chairman
and Secretary for July 85 through July 86, as required under Section 5
of the Civil Service Act. Gordon Frederick nominated Bill McQuatters
to be the fifth member of the Board, seconded by Dr. John Darby.
There being but one nomination to the position of fifth member of the
Board, the nominations were closed, and Bill McQuatters was unani -
mously elected to be the fifth member for the coming year.
The Chairman called for nominations for Chairman, motion by
Bill McQuatters that Dr. Darby be nominated, seconded by
Gordon Frederick . There being but one nomination for Chairman of the
Board and the motion having been made and seconded to close nomi-
nations, Dr. Darby was re- elected by unanimous vote by the members
to be Chairman of the Board for the coming year.
The Chairman called for nominations for Secretary of the Board.
Bill McQuatters nominated Donald Jones to be Board Secretary,
seconded by Gordon Frederick. There being but one nomination for
Secretary of the Board and the motion being made and seconded to close
nominations, Donald Jones was re- elected by unanimous vote by the mem-
bers to be Secretary of the Board for the coming year.

CIVIL SERVICE BOARD MINUTES (CONT -D)
JUNE 26, 1985
OLD BUSINESS:
The Chairman called for the reading of the minutes of the last re-
gular meeting of the Civil Service Board held June 6, 1985. Motion
made by Gordon Frederick and seconded by Bill McQuatters to
approve the minutes as mailed.
NEW BUSINESS:
The Board members met new Board member George Rufas whose Civil
Service Board term becomes effective July 1, 1985.
The Civil Service Board Members thanked Board Member Gordon Frederick
who has served on the Civil Service Board since 1981, v:hose term ex-
pires June 30, 1985 for attending the four Civil Semite Board
Hearings and numerous meetings, and assisting the Bcard with any
professional legal advice.
There being no further business before the Civil Service Board the
meeting was adjourned at 9:00 P.M., Thursday, June 25 upon receiving
a motion by Gordon Frederick and seconded by Bill McQuatters, motion
carried.
