The Mayor’s Youth Council met in Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 9,
2015, at 11:00 A.M., in the Steamboat Landing Room, First Floor, Sanford City Hall, 300
North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida.
Present: Chairman, Amelia Green

1. Call to Order.
The meeting was called to order by Assistant City Attorney Lonnie Groot at 11:00
A.M.
2. Receive ID badges.
3. Overview of the Sunshine Law by Assistant City Attorney Lonnie Groot.
The overview was provided at the meeting held on May 20.
4. Elect Council Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Communications.

Olivia Ellis moved to elect Amelia Green as Chairman. The vote was seconded
by Michey Tovar and carried unanimously.
Amelia Green moved to elect Olivia Ellis as Vice Chairman. The motion was
seconded by Maliha Kareem. Michey Tovar, Addison Ramirez and Shannan Wilburn
cast dissenting votes. The vote was passed by majority.
Olivia Ellis moved to elect Shannan Wilburn as Secretary. The motion was
seconded by Maliha Kareem and carried unanimously.
Shannan Wilburn moved to elect Addison as Communications. The motion was
seconded by Renelle Collins. Amelia Green, Olivia Ellis and Michey Tovar cast a
dissenting vote. The vote was passed by majority.
5. Discussion re: meeting dates.
The Council decided upon the following meeting dates: July 7 at 12 P.M, July 28
at 12 P.M.
6. Discussion re: Council By-Laws, rules, functions, goals, etc.
The Council discussed this item and will continue discussion at the next meeting.
7. Discussion re: Council Initiatives.
The Council discussed the following initiatives: Job Fair, Environmental Appeal,
Educating the youth, My Brother’s Keeper, Broken Windows Theory. This item will be
further discussed at the next meeting.
