MINUTES PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING of APRIL 17, 1997 7:00 P.M. CITY COMMISSION CHAMBERS CITY HALL, SANFORI, FLORIDA MEMBERS PRESENT: Helen Stairs Mac McClanahan Otto Garrett Ben Dyal Michael Skat Jim Valerino Ross Robert Leon Brooks MEMBERS ABSENT: Lynn Stogner- excused OTHERS PRESENT: Jay Marder, Director of Planning and Development Marion Anderson, Recording Secretary Mrs. Stairs called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M. The first item on the Agenda was to hold a Public Hearing to consider a request for a Dimensional Variance for Pier 1 Imports, located at 401 Towne Center Boulevard in a PD, Planned Development Zoning District for a reduction in side yard setback requirements: 10' required; 5' proposed a variance of 5 Tax I.D. Number: 29- 19 -30 -503- 0000 -0050; Property owner: Faison - Gateway Plaza Ltd Ptnr; Representative: Richard D. Merkel, F.E., Professional Engineering Consultants. David Murray, AIG, Inc. architect representing Pier 1, 1521 N. Cooper St., Suite 600, Arlington, Texas, was present. He stated that the reason for the variance is because of the parking requirements. Mr. Dyal moved to approve as presented. Mr. Robert seconded. All in favor. Motion carried. Next on the Agenda was the consideration of the Site Plan for Pier 1 Imports located at the Gateway Plaza Shopping Center at 401 Towne Center Boulevard in a PD, Planned Development Zoning District. Tax I.D. Number: 29- 19 -30- 503 --4000 -0450; Property owner: Faison - Gateway Plaza Ltd Ptnr; Representative: Richard D. Merkel, P.E., Professional Engineering Consultants. David hurray was also representing this request.. Mr. Skat moved for approval. Seconded by Mr. Dyal. All in favor. Motion carried. Mr. Dyal reported that the dumpster at the Marina has a lot of junk and garbage in it and asked if it is City owned. Mr. Marder to look into this. Mr. Marder reported that the Escambia property is on the condemnation list. Mr. Garrett reported that at the Antique Depot there is a boat with flat tires and car with NY plates with flat tires. Mr. McClanahan moved to approve the Minutes as circulated. Seconded by Mr. Roberts. All in favor. Motion carried. There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:30 P . M.
