02.19.70MINUTES ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION February 19, 1970 8:00 P.M. City Commission Room City Hall Members Present: Arthur Harris, Chairman Garnett White Cal Conklin Jeff Davis Edward Blacksheare Bert Hollingsworth Donald Bishop Absent: James Dycus Robert Karns Others Present: W. E. Knowles, City Manager L. J. Risner, Building Official Kermit Wallstedt, Building Inspector The meeting was called to order by the Chairman and minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Mr. Bert Hollingsworth was welcomed as a new member of the Commission to complete the unexpired term of Mr. Clifford McKibbin. The City Manager advised the Zoning and Planning Commission that they had been appointed by the City Commission to act as the Urban Renewal Agency during the Urban Renewal Program. He commended the members of the Board on their appointment and assured them that this was due to their unquestionable integrity and loyal service. Each member was supplied with a copy of the proposed Seminole County Road Program that was submitted by the County to the State Department of Transportation on January 26, 1970. During the evening the members compared this proposed program with the program in the 1960 Comprehensive Plan prepared for the City of Sanford and thp_ program the State of Florida Principal Highway and Street Systems, 1969- 1985, as published by the Z & P Minutes February 19, 1970 Page 2 State Department of Transportation. It was evident after comparison of the three programs that there was considerable difference of opinion regarding some of the primary and secondary roads. Mr. Harris suggested that each member study the information given to them and make a list of the changes that each felt might be of some value to the program and at the next meeting further study of the changes would be made. The subdivision regulations were next taken under advisement and after several minor changes it was moved by Garnett White to recommend to the City Commission that the Subdivision Regulations be adopted as submitted by the Zoning and Planning Commission. Seconded by Don Bishop and carried. As an added note Mr. White apprised the Board of his desire to see the Sanford area grow possibly by annexation and to increase the interest of industrialist to locate in this area. It was the concensus of the Board that each person should give this serious thought and strive to bring about this desired growth. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Chairman
