Mr. Hall said this re- zoning would be necessary to proved adequate parking facilities. The property is definitely sold to the above concern, sub3eet to the re- zoning, for a possible shopping center. Mr. McKibbin asked that the board keep in mind that he had recently learned -that people who wish to start home construction in a com- mercial zone could not get FHA financing. After some discussion, Mr. McKibbin moved that the following recom- mendation be submitted to the City Commission: To re --zone the west half of Blocks 15 and 16, 3rd Section, Dreamwold Sub- division, from residential to a C -1 area. Above motion seconded by Mr. Lee. Motion withdrawn in favor of Mr. Collin's recommendation as follows: That all property presently zoned R -1, be re -zoned to C -1 in the following described area; bounded on the north by West 18th Street, on the east by French Avenue, on the south by 25th Street, and on the west by Maple Avenue. This recommendation is made due to the rapid growth and demand for commercial property on French Avenue, and that the present commercial zone is not sufficient in depth. Motion seconded by Karlyle Housholder. Motion carried. The next item of business was a sub - division plat submitted by Mr. Payton. The location being the corner of Mangoustine Avenue and P & 2 Commission "Minutes" March 2, 1956 _ 2 - Fulton Street. After discussion as to drainage, Mr. Magibbin moved that the plat be approved as laid out. Motion seconded by Mr. Housholder and carried. The board took up a discussion on possible set -back distances to allow for 100 foot right -of -ways on main arteries. This would mean that all new construction would be 50 feet from the center line of any main highway. It was felt that it would apply mostly to State highways, main City arteries, and state designated secondary roads. It was decided to continue this discussion at next meeting of the board. Due to the increase in zoning requests recently submitted to this board, and the special meetings called, it was concurred that any zoning requests should be submitted to the City Manager's Office ten (10) days prior to each monthly meeting date, which is the 3rd Thursday of each month. If this procedure does not alleviate the special meeting, then It was felt that possibly for the time being two meetings per month should be held. There being no further business, meeting adjourned.
