01.03.57Regular Meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commission, Thursday, January 3, 1957 Members present: Messrs. Brown, Lee, McSibbin, Faville, and Karns. Also present: Building Inspector Yelvington, City Manager Knowles, and Mr. Frank George. Mr. Brown called the meeting to order. The request of Mr. A. Wieboldt to allow colored residence of the house on 501 E. 3rd Street was brought up. A letter from Mr. I. E. Batten, an abutting property owner, was read whereby he protested the request. After a brief discussion, Mr. McKibbin moved that the request be denied. Seconded by Mr. Dorgan and passed. A discussion was then held on the fact that the Nazarene Church at 2nd Street and Maple Avenue are adding an educational building and not providing an off - street parking area. The Commission confirmed the action of the building inspector in granting the permit without this requirement. Since one vacancy still exists on the Commission, the following names were suggested for the City Commission: Dr. D. H. Mathers, Arthur Moore, J. C. Davis, Dr. Charles L. Persons, A. L. Lyons, M. L. Raborn, Jr., George Andrew Speer. The meeting was then adjourned. Chairman retary - - -- - - - __ - -- - - -- _... __
