09.04.57ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION
Regular 'Meeting
September 4, 1957
Members present were Messers. Brown, Morgan, Talley, Johnson,
Collins, Karns, and McKibbin. Also present were Building Inspector
Yelvington and City Manager Knowles.
Chairman Brown called the meeting to order.
Mr. Brown requested a reconsideration of the request of Mr.
William Kirk in regards to off - street parking at the proposed con-
struction at Commercial Avenue and Hood Avenue. Since plans of the
structure were not available, no determination could be made. How-
ever, Mr. Morgan moved that they recommend to the City Commission
that the off - street parking be amended so that new or
materially altered buildings would not be required to provide
private off- street parking facilities so long - as the building is
within 800' of any public parking facility that may be either private-
ly or publicly owned and so long as the public parking facility is
deemed adequate by the Zoning and Planning Commission to serve the
needs of the added parking generator in addition to the present use
of the public parking facility. The motion was seconded by Mr. Karns
and passed.
Mr. Yelvington then explained that non - conforming use require-
ments applies only to the section in the ordinance for each zoning
district that pertains to uses allowed in that district. It does
not apply to side yard requirements, etc.
Mr. Brown stated the desire to have the City Attorney meet with
them to discuss definitions in the ordinance.
Mr. Yelvington then presented the plans for an addition to the
Fox- I9illiams building on Palmetto Avenue for off - street parking re-
quirements. Mr. McKibbin moved that no additional spaces be required.
Seconded by Mr. Karns and passed.
Mr. Yelvington presented the plans for Mr. Harold Kastner's
building on 'Nest 13rb Street and French Avenue in regards to off - street
parking requirements. Mr. Collins moved that the off - street parking
area shown on the plans was sufficient for the proposed building.
Motion seconded by Mr. Johnson and passed.
The reading of the previous minutes were waivered until the
next meeting.
There being no further business, the Commission adjourned.
