Item 2 - Roll Call Item 3 Approval of Minutes — Mr. Then made the motion to approve the minutes of December 11, 2003. Ms. Gibbs seconded. Motion carried 7 -0. Item 4 - Election of Chairman and Vice - Chairman for 2004 Ms. Gibbs nominated Mr. Myers to serve as chairman for 2004. Mr. Myers nominated Mr. Then to serve as Vice -Chair for 2004. Motion seconded and carried 7 -0. Item 5 - Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness — Commercial District Item 5A - 104 S. Park Avenue, replace aluminum windows; attach canvas valence to aluminum awning, Virgil and Denise Hurley, owners, Barbara Farrell presenting. Replacement Aluminum Windows: Mr. Myers made the motion to deny replacement of aluminum windows based on staff recommendation and non- compliance with the S codes. Seconded by Mr. Goodman. Motion carried 5 -1 (Powers). Attach canvas valance to aluminum awning, no lettering: Mr. Myers made the motion to approve as presented. Mr. Goodman seconded. Motion carried 6 -0. Historic Preservation Board January 8, 2004 Page 2 Item 6 - Applications for Certificates of Appropriateness — Residential District Item 6A - 1118 S. Palmetto Avenue, construct accessory structure, Maria Shreve Owner, Mary Valente presenting. Ms. Farrell made the motion to approve with condition that the height cannot exceed the height of the principle structure. Ms. Gibbs seconded. Motion carried 6 -0. Item 6B - 1201 Oak Avenue, variance for fence, Rey Sylvester, owner. Ms. Farrell made the motion to approve as presented. Ms. Gibbs seconded. Motion denied 2 -4 (Then, Goodman, Myers, Gibbs). Item 7 - Minor Reviews Item 8 - 6 -month Reviews Item 9 - Chairman and Board's items for discussion Ms. Farrell - Ruby Juice - did they apply for a back lit sign? Building at 2nd and Oak with hand written "for sale" can something be done about condition of building? Denny Gibbs — Imperial Opera House - stuccoed over brick columns, was this approved? Would like all commercial submittals to have picture of existing or original state or come to board for review. Item 10 — there being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 6:51.
