SPECIAL JOINT MEETING
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Joint
Meeting with the Planning & Zoning Commission on Monday, November 13, 2017, at 3:00 PM,
in the City Commission Chambers, Sanford City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida.

Mayor Triplett called the meeting to order at 3:11 PM
1. Discussion re: Comprehensive Plan Update
Director of Planning and Development Services Russ Gibson said that the City's
Comprehensive Plan needs to be updated due to the significant changes in the City of Sanford,
especially the growth and redevelopment. This document is the foundation of how the City's
vision is implemented. Mr. Gibson stated that Poulos and Bennett will be updating the plan along
with City staff, and introduced the Project Manager Lucie Ghioto.

Ms. Ghioto presented a power point presentation pertaining to the Comprehensive
Plan Update. She said that the Comprehensive Plan has not been updated since 2009. The
presentation included statutory changes, growth and sustainability, goals, objectives, and policies
as well as a public outreach strategy. The presentation is more of an informal brainstorming
session and all suggestions and ideas are welcome. The presentation ended with an
implementation timeline which shows a tentative adoption hearing of Octoker 2018.
There being further business, the meeting was adjourned at1:52 PM.
