WORK SESSION
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Work
Session on Monday, October 9, 2017, at 4:00 PM, in the Railroad Depot Room, 2nd Floor,
City Hall, and 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida.

Mayor Triplett called the meeting to order at 4:02 PM.
1. Presentation on homeless services in the Central Florida Region.
Martha Are, Executive Director of Homeless Services Network of Central
Florida, gave a PowerPoint presentation on the various services that the organization
offers.
2. Presentation by Economic Development Department
Economic Development Director Bob Turk gave a PowerPoint
presentation pertaining to the current and upcoming development throughout the City.
3. Presentation re: City's Oil and Grease Pretreatment Program
Utilities Environmental Coordinator Hope Duncan gave a PowerPoint
presentation on the ways in which the City is educating the public on the proper disposal
of oil and grease.
4. Discussion re: City Seal

City Clerk Cynthia Porter asked the Commission for input on the City's
current City Seal. It has been suggested that it is time for a new Seal. She provided
several options that GIS Technician Mike Jones designed as well as samples from
surrounding cities. After a brief discussion, the Commission asked Ms. Porter to work
with Mr. Jones to design a Seal using the City's branding logo, the clock. Ms. Porter said
that it will be brought to the Commission for review prior to moving forward with an
ordinance to amend City Code regarding the City Seal.

Mr. Bonaparte said that the Charter Review Committee held its first
meeting on October 5, 2017. It was a good organizational meeting.
Deputy City Manager Tom George met with the Heritage Park Waterfront
Developers on Thursday and said that they are in the process of obtaining financing.
They have invested in the City by purchasing the property at 210 Commercial Street
which will serve as their headquarters and project office. They will also have a presence
at this week's Alive After Five event. 1
