[Commission Memo 18-084] (WS 63) Shane Lillibridge, Sanford resident, asked why the amendments will be placed on the August primary election ballot versus the November general election ballot. CITY COMMISSION MINUTES APRIL 239 2018 REGULAR MEETING Mayor Triplett explained that is the recommendation of the Supervisor of Elections and that is the date that City elections are held. Commissioner Austin moved to approve the first reading of Ordinance No. 2018- 4443 which is to include the calculation and formula used in calculating the Commission's compensation. Also, there will only be one meeting in May due to the Memorial Day Holiday. 11) CITY MANAGER'S REPORT Mr. George gave thanks to the Charter Review Committee for the work they have done over the past several months. Commissioner Mahany asked the City Clerk to extend an invitation to the Charter Review Committee in regards to the Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Mayor Triplett said that he would like to write a letter of thanks to the members of the Charter Review Committee and Commissioner Austin suggested that the Commission recognize them at a June meeting and present certificates. The Commission concurred. Commissioner Austin will work on this with the City Clerk. 12) CITIZEN PARTICIPATION Mr. Jim Fears, resident at 1109 S. Park Ave said that he is concerned with a letter that he received in his water bill that stated the City water contained harmful chemicals in it such as Cyanide. He said that the residents should have been notified sooner. Utilities Manager Bill Marcous explained that this was due to a testing error and it is a requirement to notify the public if testing errors occur. He stated that the testing was performed a second time and again, there was no detection of Cyanide in the water. Mr. Marcous provided his business card to Mr. Fears if he would like additional information. 13) CITY COMMISSIONER'S REPORTS Vice Mayor Williams said that she attended a ribbon cutting ceremony this morning CITY COMMISSION MINUTES APRIL 239 2018 REGULAR MEETING at the EPA Gasification Site. She has worked with this organization on this project for the last 20 years. She asked Public Works Director Bilal Iftikhar to briefly update the Commission on this project. Mr. Iftikhar said that the site has been cleared and is located on Holly Avenue. It is ready for redevelopment at this time. Commissioner Woodruff asked if any of the City Commissioner's will be attending the Seminole County BCC meeting pertaining to the road work on SR 46. Several members had prior commitments, therefore, Commissioner Woodruff will attend. The Museum Advisory Board mentioned at their last meeting that the shuffle board building is sometimes used for senior events and requested that a bathroom be added. He has passed the information on to Mr. George as well. There being no further business, the meeting was adj burbe 10:15 PM.
