09-09-19 JT Minutes PACCITY COMMISSION MINUTES SEPTEMBER 99 2019 SPECIAL JOINT MEETING The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, met in Special Joint Meeting with the Public Art Commission (PAC) on Monday, September 9, 2019, at 4:00 PM, in the Railroad Depot Room, Sanford City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida. City Commission Present: Public Art Commission Present: Absent: Mayor Jeff Triplett Vice Mayor Art Woodruff Commissioner Kerry S. Wiggins, Sr. Commissioner Patrick Austin Commissioner Patty Mahany City Manager Norton N. Bonaparte, Jr. City Attorney William L. Colbert City Clerk Traci Houchin Deputy City Clerk Cathy LoTempio Virginia Poe, Chairman Kimberly House Reggie Santilli Sabreena Colbert Breri Sprysenski Jessica Vick 1. Meeting call to order by Mayor Triplett. The meeting was called to order by Mayor Triplett at 4:14 PM, at which time he turned the meeting over to Chairman Virginia Poe and Sabreena Colbert. Ms. Colbert presented a power point presentation for the 2018/2019 accomplishments and 2019/2020 goals. Ms. Poe stated that PAC received a $3,000 grant and would like the Commission to consider granting a $3,000 match as well. Ms. Poe also asked for a $10,000 increase in the budget for 2019/2020 to invest in a large sculpture for City Hall. Ms. Colbert gave a brief discussion on the Themed Mural Program utilizing a CITY COMMISSION MINUTES clock face as the theme. SEPTEMBER 99 2019 SPECIAL JOINT MEETING Ms. Poe and Ms. Colbert handed out a brochure and gave a brief discussion regarding the Florida Power & Light box wrapping project. There are (18) City owned boxes in the Historic District that the Committee has identified and measured. Each wrap will cost $750 through the Seminole County Cultural Arts. They can use the funds from the CRA grant to get this project started. Commissioner Mahany recommended that the project include a few boxes in each district and not just the downtown area. Mayor Triplett suggested using the $10,000 that PAC is requesting (to fund a sculpture) to be used on this project. It would provide a larger impact to the City. Ms. Poe asked staff to have the contractor that is repairing the Riverwalk pour a few 4' X 4' concrete pads along the Riverwalk so that they can place some donated art or sculptures on? During a brief discussion regarding the bird sculptures that are in the Commission Chambers, it was decided that PAC will find another location to display them. Mayor Triplett recommended that the PAC bring a budget proposal to the next City Commission meeting for consideration.
