AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 17, MOTOR VEHICLES AND
TRAFFIC, ARTICLE II, OF THE CITY CODE ENTITLED
STOPPING, STANDING AND PARKING, SECTION 17-
23(c)(11) OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD AMENDING THE PARKING RESTRICTIONS
ON CITY EASEMENTS OR PARKWAYS; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS, AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission of the City of Sanford to amend
Section 17-23(c)(11) of Chapter 17, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, Article II, Stopping,
Standing and Parking, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford amending the
parking restrictions on City easements and parkways; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Article II, Stopping, Standing and Parking, Section 17-23 (c)(11 ),
of the City of Sanford, Code of Ordinances, is hereby deleted in its entirety and the new
Section 17-23(c)(11 ) is adopted as follows:
Sec. 17-23. Prohibited and limited parking generally.
(c)(11 ) On any city easement or parkway. It shall be unlawful
for any person to park any motor vehicle in or on a city
easement or on a parkway unless authorized by the City
Commission or Administrative Official. For the purpose of this
section, "Parkway' is defined as that area from the right-of-way
line to the edge of payment of the lateral lines of a roadway
including any grassy or unpaved median between two paved
areas. The prohibition shall not apply to motor vehicles owned
or operated by the city, by a public utility, or by the county,
state or federal government when such vehicles are engaged
in the performance of work by employees of said agencies in
the course and scope of their employment, nor shall the
prohibition apply to authorized emergency vehicles actually
engaged in emergency service.
SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and
the same are hereby revoked;
SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its
passage and adoption.
