AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 19 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY OF
SAN FORD, FLORIDA, THE SAME BEING KNOWN AS
"PLUMBING", SAID AIViEND1ViENT ADOPTING THE 1977
REVISION TO THE 1975 EDITION OF THE STANDARD
PLUMBING CODE, AS AMENDED WITH THE FOLLOWING
AMENDMENTS: AMENDMENT OF THAT SECTION RELATIVE
TO UNDERGROUND INACCESSIBLE WATER .DISTRIBUTION
PIPING UNDER SLABS TO REQUIRE COPPER WATER TUBE,
MINIMUM TYPE L, 194 STANDARD WATER TUBE, BRASS,
CAST IRON PRESSURE PIPE OR GALVANIZED STEEL PIPE:
ELIMINATION FROM THE TABLE ENTITLED "MATERIALS
FOR PLUMBING INSTALLATIONS" OF BITUMINIZED SEWER
PIPE AND FITTINGS AND CONCRETE SEWER PIPE; A1ViEND-
MENTS OF THE SECTION RELATIVE TO SAFETY PANS AND
RELIEF VALVE WASTE TO REQUIRE TANKS OR HEATERS
TO REST IN GALVANIZED STEEL OR OTHER METAL PANS
OF EQUAL CORROSIVE RESISTANCE WHEN WATER HEATERS
OR HOT WATER STORAGE TANKS ARE INSTALLED ABOVE
THE CEILING LEVEL.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Sect[on 19~1 of Chapter 19 entitled "Plumbing"
of the Sanford City Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
Sec. 19-1o ADOPTED
The 1977 revision to the 1975 edition of the Standard Plumbing
Code as prepared by the Southern Building Code Congress, [,s hereby
adopted 'by the City, one (1) copy of whfch code is filed [n the office of
the Cfty Clerk as a matter of permanent record of the Cfty, and the
matters and contents there in are made a part of thfs Chapter 'by reference
~s.:fUlly~:'and completely as [f set forth here [n, and such copy shall remafn
on file in said office available for public inspection.
SECTION 2. That Sec. 19-3 of Chapter 19, entitled "Plumbing"
of the Sanford City Code is here'by amended to read as follows:
Sec. 19-3. Amendments
Su'b-section ('b) of Section 12 12.1 of the 1975 edition of the Standard
Ptum'bing Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
"(b) Under Ground--inaccess ible water distribution piping
under slabs shall be copper water tube minimum type L, 194
standard water tube, brass, cast iron pressure pipe or
galvanized steel pipe, all to be installed w ~th appropr late
approved fittings: Galvanized steel and type L copper tube
and 194 standard water tube shall be protected when used
under floor sl~'bs in corrosive soils. All ferrous pipe and
fittings shall be coated w[th coal tar enamel or other coating
approved for such purpose. All threaded joints shall be coated
and wrapped after installation. Copper water tube under slab
shall be a continuous loop, or all approved fitting must be
silver soldered."
Table 505 of the Standard Plumb hug Code entitled "Materials
for Plumbing Installations" is amended 'by deleting from the list
of materials Bituminized Sewer PLpe & Fittings and Concrete Sewer
Pipe.
Sub-section (a) of Section 1215.8 of the 1976 revision to the
1975 edition of ~he Standard Plumb hug Code is hereby amended to
read as follows:
"1215.8 --SAFETY PANS AND RELIEF VALVE WASTE
(a) When water heaters oi~ hot water storage tanks are
installed above the ceiling level, the tank or heater
shall rest in a galvanized steel or other metal pan of
equal corros ire resistance having a thickness at least
equal to 24 gauge galvanized sheet steel.
SECTION 3. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are here'by repealed.
SEDTION 4. That this ordinance shall 'become effective
immediately upon its passage and adopt[on.
