AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
REPEALING ARTICLE VIII, OF THE CITY CODE,
RESIDENTIAL LIGHTING STANDARDS, SECTION 18-1050,
EXCESSIVE LIGHTING PROHIBITED IN RESIDENTIAL
AREAS; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS,
CODIFICATION, AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford deems it in the best interest
of the citizens to repeal Article VIII of the City Code, Residential Lighting Standards,
Section 18-1050, Excessive lighting prohibited in residential areas, as the number of
complaints have been limited and law enforcement has stated that increased lighting
provides for increased personal and property security; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SAN FORD, FLORIDA, as follows:
SECTION 1: That Article VIII of the City Code, Residential Lighting Standards,
Section 18-1050, Excessive lighting prohibited in residential areas, be hereby repealed in
its entirety.
SECTION 2: SEVERABILITY. If any section or a portion of a section of this
ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair
the validity, force or effect of any other section or part of this ordinance.
SECTION 3: CONFLICTS. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 4. CODIFICATION. It is the intention of the City Commission of the City
of Sanford, Florida, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall
become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford, Florida; that
the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such
intention; that the word, "Ordinance," may be changed to "Section," "Article," or other
appropriate word.
SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE.
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
