AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
PROVIDING THAT ALL GENERAL EMPLOYEES MAY
ELECT TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FLORIDA RETIREMENT
SYSTEM AS SET OUT IN SECTION 2-155, CHAPTER 2,
ARTICLE X, RETIREMENT SYSTEM OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SANFORD BEGINNING
DECEMBER 1, 2000; PROVIDING FOR CODIFICATION,
SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford, Florida adopted Ordinance No. 1122 on April 9,
1973, codified at Sections 2-155 through 2-161, of Chapter 2, Article X, of the City Code
of the City of Sanford;
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford, Florida has repealed Ordinances 3279 and 3422,
establishing the General Employees, Pension Plan; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford deems it in the best interest of the City to provide
that all general employees may participate in the Florida Retirement System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: All general employees are eligible to participate in the Florida
Retirement System as set forth in Sections 2-155 through 2-161, Chapter 2, Article X, of
the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford, beginning December 1, 2000.
SECTION 2: CODIFICATION. It is the intention of the City Commission of the City
of Sanford, Florida, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall
become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford, Florida; that
the Sections of this Ordinance may be tenumbered or relettered to accomplish such
intention; that the word, "Ordinance," may be changed to "Section," "Article," or other
appropriate word.
SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY. If any section or portion of a section of this
Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair
the validity, force or effect of any other action or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4: CONFLICTS. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall become effective December
1,2000,
