AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
REPEALING SECTIONS 2-162 THROUGH 2-170.5 OF
CHAPTER 2, ARTICLE X, RETIREMENT SYSTEM, OF THE
CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, AND
ORDINANCE NOS. 3279 AND 3422, REGARDING THE
GENERAL EMPLOYEES' PENSION PLAN; PROVIDING FOR
CODIFICATION, SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford deems it in the best interest of the City and the
hea]th, safety and welfare of its citizens and residents to repeal Sections 2-162 through
2-170.5, of Chapter 2, Article X, Retirement System, of the City Code of the City of
Sanford, and Ordinances 3279 and 3422, which established the General Employees'
Pension Plan, in order to rejoin the Florida Retirement System.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SAN FORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Sections 2-162 through 2.170.5, of Chapter 2, Article X,
Retirement System, of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford, and Ordinance Nos.
3279 and 3422, of the City of Sanford, Florida, are hereby repealed in their entirety, except
that the provisions of Section 2-170.2 regarding the repeal or termination of the system
regrading administration of accrued benefits for members or beneficiaries shall be
complied with.
SECTION 2: CODIFICATION. it is the intention of the City Commission ofthe City
of Sanford, Florida, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall
become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford, Florida; that
the Sections of this Ordinance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such
intention; that the word, "Ordinance," may be changed to "Section," "Article," or other
appropriate word.
SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY. If any section or portion of a section of this
Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair
the validity, force or effect of any other action or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4: CONFLICTS. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION .5: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall become effective November
30, 2000.
