3643 ORDINANCE NO. 3 6 4 3 AN ORDNANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORE)A DESIGNATING 703 SANFORD AVENUE, LEGALLY DESCRIBED AS LOT 7 AND THE EASTERN ELEVEN FEET OF VACATED STREET ON THE WEST, BLOCK 9, TRACT A, TOWN 'OF SANFORD, AS AN HISTORIC LANDMARK WITHIN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA; PROVIDING SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the residence at 703 Sanford Avenue was erected in about 1913; and WHEREAS, the residence has served as the home for several of the leading African American educators and citizens of Sanford; and WHEREAS, the residence has historical, architectural and cultural significance to the community; and WHEREAS, the residence is suitable for restoration and preservation and has educational value for the Sanford community; and WHEREAS, the City of Sanford Historic Preservation Board has reconunended that 703 Sanford Avenue be designated a historic landmark; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA: Section 1: That the statements above are tree and correct and are incorporated herein by reference. Section 2: That the property and building owned by Patricia Whatley and Charles Metritt, Jr., located at 703 Sanford Avenue and legally described as lot 7 and the eastern eleven feet of vacated street on the west, block 9, tract A, town of Sanford is hereby designated as an historic landmark within the City of Sanford. Section 3: That a suitable sign or marker shall be located on or near the property indicting that the property has been designated an historic landmark. Section 4: If any section or portion of a section of this ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the validity, force or effect of any other section or part of this ordinance. Section5: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
