3340 ORDINANCE NO.33 '/O AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3333, AND ITS AMENDMENTS, AND ADOPTING AN AMENDED CLASSIFICATION AND PAY PLAN EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS, AND EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, deems it necessary to amend the Classification and Pay Plan to authorize reclassifying one (1) "Maintenance Worker II' position in the Recreation & Parks Department to a "Groundskeeper" position classification and regrade same to salary schedule 01-33. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the preceding clauses are adopted as fully set forth herein. SECTION 2: That the terms of Ordinance No. 3333 are hereby amended. SECTION 3: That Ordinance No. 3333 be and the same is hereby amended to provide that the revisions to the Classification and Pay Plan attached hereto as Exhibit "A" are incorporated herein by reference and are made part of this Ordinance as fully and completely as though it was fully set forth herein. SECTION 4 SEVERABILITY: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby revoked. SECTION 5 CONFLICT: If any section or portion of a section of this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the validity, force or effect of any other section or part of this Ordinance. As City Clerk of the City of Sanford, Florida CITY OF SANFORD GROUNDSKEEPER POSITION NO. 3240 I GRADE: 133 FLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPT KIND OF WORK This is technical supervisory work in assigning and directing work crews engaged in groundskeeping work associated with the Division to which the position is assigned. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES This position is considered to be a technical, working, supervisory position. Exercises routine supervision of work crews and work sites engaged in groundskeeping activities. Provides expertise regarding the mixing and application of pesticides, herbicicles, fertilizers, etc. Ensures that all related equipment is operated and maintained in a safe and efficient manner. Prepares athletic fields for competition. Assists the athletic supervisors in making long range decisions regarding groundskeeping scheduling of activities and projects. Ensures that all applicable safety rules and regulations are adhered to in addition to all personnel-related policies and procedures. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of the practices, procedures, methods, equipment, and tools used in the preparation and maintenance of public sector parks and recreation facilities. Thorough knowledge of the safe and effective use of turf equipment, mowers, sprayers, spreaders, verti- cutters, aerifiers, etc. Thorough knowledge of the practices, procedures, and methods necessary to maintain all types of turf in a healthy and cosmetically pleasing condition. Ability to make minor repairs on all types of turf equipment. Must possess thorough knowledge and ability to comprehend and maintain all aspects of irrigation systems. ESSENTIAL MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Must be HSG or GED equivalent. Must have minimum of three (3) years experience in a turf management related field which includes parks/grounds construction, repair, and maintenance. Must possess State of Florida Restricted Pesticide Permit. Must possess valid Florida (Class A-D as specified by the Department) Driver's License. SUPERVISION EXERCISED Provides direct to close supervision to work crews consisting of unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled maintenance personnel involved in parks and recreation, construction, and repair activities.
