3418 ORDINANCE NO. 3418
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SEC. 2-2.1 OF THE CITY CODE, SAID SECTION
ENTITLED "COMPENSATION OF CITY COMMISSION AND
MAYOR; EXPENSE MONEY", TO INCREASE THE ANNUAL
SALARY AND EXPENSE COMPENSATION OF THE CITY
COMMISSION AND MAYOR; PROVIDING FOR
SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS, AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission of the City of Sanford to increase the
annual salary and expense compensation of the City Commission and of the Mayor to those paid
to City Commission members and Mayors in other Florida cities of comparable size and having
comparable duties.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: See. 2-2.1. Compensation of city commission and mayor; expense money,
of the City Code is hereby mended to read as follows:
"Sec. 2-2.1. Compensation of city commission and mayor; expense money.
(a) That the annual compensation of the city commissioners of the City of
Sanford, Florida, shall be the sum of seven thousand five hundred dollars
($7,500.00) per year, said sum to be payable in equal monthly installments
commencing as provided in Section 2.02 of the City Charter.
(b) In addition to the compensation as specified in subsection (a) of this
section, the mayor of the City of Sanford, Florida, shall receive additional
compensation in the sum of one thousand five hundred dollars ($1,500.00) per
year, said compensation to be payable in equal monthly installments commencing
as provided in Section 2.02 of the City Charter.
(c) In addition to the compensation specified in subsections (a) and (b) of
this section, each of the commissioners and the mayor shall receive as expenses,
the sum of four hundred ninety five dollars ($495.00) per month. The expense
money se~ forth herein shall be payable in monthly installments commencing on
August 1, 1998."
SECTION 2: If any section or portion of a section of this Ordinance proves to be invalid,
unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the vaiidity, force or effect of any other
section or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 3: That all Ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the
same are hereby revoked.
