SPECIAL .JOINT MEETING
The City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida; met in Special Joint
Meeting with the Sanford Airport Authority on Monday, August 24, 2020, at 4:00 PM, in the
City Commission Chambers, Sanford City Hall, 300 North Park Avenue, Sanford, Florida.

1. Meeting call to order by Mayor Woodruff.

SPECIAL JOINT MEETING
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Woodruff at 4:06 PM, at which time
he turned the meeting over to Chairman Green who called the meeting to order for the Sanford
Airport Authority.
2. PUBLIC HEARING
A. Sanford Airport Authority FY 2020/2021 Budget: presentation by Sanford Airport
Authority President/CEO Diane Crews.
Ms. Crews presented an overview of the Sanford Airport Authority
Comprehensive Annual Budget Fiscal Year 2020/2021. Ms. Crews provided an update on
projects, new positions, accomplishments and special events planned in Fiscal Year 2020/2021.
She said the biggest accomplishments were the National Rankings the Sanford Airport received.
She said the airport is in the top 14% in total passengers out of 563 commercial airports and in
the top 4% busiest airports out of 520 in the United States. Ms. Crews said the airport is looking
forward to hosting the Lockheed Martin Space and Air Show on October 31 — November 1,
2020.
Mr. Ioppolo moved to approve the SAA Comprehensive Annual Budget Fiscal
Year 2019/2020. Seconded by Mr. Gregg, Sr. and passed unanimously.
Chairman Green spoke about the effects of COVID-19 and thanked Ms. Crews
and Mr. George Speake for a great job of handling the pandemic and their dedication to the
Sanford Airport. He thanked Ms. Crews for her loyalty and dedication for all of her years of
service at the Sanford Airport.

Mr. loppolo moved to adjourn the Sanford Airport Authority Budget portion of
the work, session. Seconded by Mr. Miller and passed unanimously.
Mayor Woodruff thanked the Sanford Airport Authority for their support on the
Space and Air Show, for their participation at the Mayfair Golf Course and for moving forward
on the new Fire Station.
Vice Mayor Wiggins moved to approve the Sanford Airport Authority Fiscal Year
2020/2021 Budget. Seconded by Commissioner Austin and carried by vote of the Commission as
follows:

Ms. Crews said she has had complaints about the noise at the airport and overall
those comments are appreciated. She said this past meeting with the Sanford Aviation Noise
Abatement Committee (SANAC) was the best meeting ever.
Mayor Woodruff thanked Ms. Crews for all her hard work.
There being further business, the meeting was adjourned al 4:38 PM.
