3298 ORDINANCE NO. 3298
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
CHANGING THE NAME OF THAT PORTION OF PERSIMON
AVENUE BETWEEN 16TH STREET AND 19TH STREET TO
"MERTHIE DRIVE"; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, upon request of the Foundation of Early Education and
in tribute to Mrs. Lillie B. Merthie, founder of Merthie Day Care
Center, Inc., located at 1611 Persimmon Avenue in the Goldsboro
section of the City of Sanford, it is deemed desirable to change
the name of that portion of Persimmon Avenue between 16th Street
and 19th Street to Merthie Drive; and
WHEREAS, there does not presently exist within the City of
Sanford, Florida, a road defined and named Merthie Drive.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION l: That the portion of Persimmon Avenue
located between 16th Street and 19th Street be named and known as
Merthie Drive.
SECTION 2: Severability. If any section or portion of a
section of this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or
unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 3: Conflicts. That all Ordinances or parts of
Ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 4: Effective Date. That this Ordinance shall
become effective on the 13th day of July, A.D. 1996.
