3300 ORDINANCE NO. 3300
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SANFORD CITY CODE ARTICLE XIX, SECTION
2-335(b), VACANCIES IN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Article XIX, Secdon 2-335(b) of the Sanford City Code shall be amended
to read as follows:
Section 2-335. Vacancies in the classified service.
(b) Vacancies occurring at other than entry level in any
deparunent may be filled by promotion of qualified employees from
the next lower grade or class within the department, by voluntary
transfer of a qualified civil service employee from within the civil
service system, or by qualified applicants from the general public.

SECTION 2: SEVERAll ILITY. If any section or portion of a setdon of this ordinance
proves m be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the validity, force or
effect of any other section or part of this ordinance.
SECTION 3: CONFLICTS. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 4: EFFECTIVE DATE. That this Ordinance shall become effecdve immediately
except for any position vacant or any position for which the City has received and accepted a letter
of resignation or retirement at the rime of adoption of this Ordinance. The effective date of this
Ordinance for any positions which are vacant or for which the City has received and accepted a letter
of resignation or retirement at the time of adopdon of this Ordinance shall be the day after each such
position has been filled. It is the legislative intent of the City Commission to fill pending vacancies
under existing rules and future vacancies under revised rules.
