3197 ORDINANCE NO. 3197
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 3146 WHICH ESTABLISHED
A COMMUNITY POLICING TEAM (CPT) BY EXTENDING
ITS AUTHORIZATION AND SOURCE OF FUNDING;
PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS, SEVERABILITY AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida,
enacted Ordinance No. 3146 on March 22, 1993, to establish four
additional "police officer" positions subject to and concurrent
with continued grant funding associated with the agreement entered
into by the City of Sanford and the Sanford Housing Authority to
establish a Community Policing Team (CPT); and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida,
determines that the CPT serves a valid public purpose and desires
to see it continue; and
WHEREAS, current grant funding is scheduled to expire on March
8, 1994, but the Sanford Housing Authority is seeking subsequent
funding for the program; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida,
desires to avoid a lapse in the program.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA.
SECTION 1: That the preceding clauses are adopted as if
fully set forth herein.
SECTION 2: That the terms of Ordinance No. 3146 are
continued in full force and effect and are not contingent on grant
funding.
SECTION 3: That temporary funding for the CPT program
shall be from such funds and in such amounts as are appropriated by
the City Commission from time to time and in the same manner as
other regular budgetary appropriations.
SECTION 4: CONFLICTS. If any sectionor portion of a section
of this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or
unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 5: SEVERABILITY. That all Ordinances or parts of
Ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 6: EFFECTIVE DATE. That this Ordinance shall become
effective immediately upon its passage and adoption.
