ORDINANCE NO. 3181
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AMENDING
ORDINANCE NO. 1689 AS AMENDED BY ORDINANCE 2069 AS
AMENDED BY ORDINANCE 3077 OF THE CITY OF BANFORD,
FLORIDA; PROVIDING FOR AN AMENDED PENSION PLAN FOR
FIREFIGHTERS TO INCREASE BENEFIT RATES FROM 2.44% TO
2.62%; PROVIDING FOR AN INCREASE IN THE EMPLOYEE
CONTRIBUTION FOR THE FIREMANS' RETIREMENT SYSTEM FROM
4.6% TO 7%; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the Sanford City Commission to
amend Section 3-2A of Ordinance No. 2068.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Section 3 Benefits Amounts and Eligibility,
Subsection 2, Retirement Benefits, A, Normal or Delayed, is amended
to read as follows:
SECTION 3: BENEFIT AMOUNTS AND ELIGIBILITY
2. Retirement Benefit
A. Normal or Delayed - The monthly retirement benefit
shall equal two and sixty-two one hundredths percent (2.62%) of
Average Monthly Earnings, for each year of Credit Service.
SECTION 2: The first sentence of Section 5, Contributions,
Subsection 1, Member Contributions, A. Amount, of Ordinance No.
2069 is amended to read as follows:
SECTION 5: CONTRIBUTIONS.
1. Member Contributions
A. Amount Members shall contribute at the rate of 7% of
Earnings.
SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY. If any section, sentence,
phrase, word, or portion of this Ordinance is determined to be
invalid, unlawful, or unconstitutional, said determination shall
not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force, or effect
of any other section, sentence, phrase, word, or portion of this
Ordinance not otherwise determined to be invalid, unlawful, or
unconstitutional.
SECTION 4: CONFLICTS. All ordinances or resolutions or
parts of ordinances or resolutions in conflict herewith are hereby
repealed to the extent of any conflict.
SECTION 5: EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordinance shall become
effective immediately upon passage and adoption.
