AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 16, SECTION 12 OF THE
SANFORD CITY CODE TO INCLUDE GAME ROOMS AND
ARCADES AND TO AMEND CHAPTER 18, SECTION 12
OF THE CITY CODE TO INCLUDE GAME ROOMS AND
ARCADES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commission of the
City of Sanford, Florida, to amend Chapter 16, Section 12 of the
Sanford City Code to include Game Rooms and Arcades.
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Commision of the
City of Sanford, Florida, to amend Chapter 18, Section 12
concerning the rules and regulations governing Dance Halls to
include gamerooms and arcades.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Chapter 16, Licenses, Section 12, Schedule
of occupations and license taxes is amended to add Game Rooms and
Arcades to the list of occupations, businesses or professions for
which a license or permit is needed and the amount of $37.50
shall be paid for said license or permit.
SECTION 2: Chapter 18, Section 12, of the Sanford City
Code is amended to read as follows:
Sec. 18-12. DANCE HALLS, GAME ROOMS AND
ARCADES; PERMIT REQUIRED; TO BE CONDUCTED IN
ORDERLY MANNER; HOURS OF OPERATION.
(a) Before any person shall operate for
profit in the city any place where dancing is
engaged in, commonly called a "dance hall,
game room or arcade", a permit shall be
obtained for such purpose from the city
commission. The city commission shall have
the right to reject any application for a
permit under the provisions of this section.
(b) Every dance hall, game room and
arcade operated for profit in the city for
which a permit may be obtained as provided in
subsection (a) shall be conducted in an
orderly manner and shall be subject to
regulation by the chief of the police
department of the city as to hours of
operation. (Code 1954, § § 18-11, 18-12)
SECTION 3: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
Ln conflict herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 4: That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
