1906 ORDINANCE NO. 1906 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1873 WHICH ESTABLISHED THE HENRY SHELTON SANFORD MEMORIAL LIBRARY AND MUSEUM BOARD BY INCREASING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD FROM FIVE TO NINE MEMBERS, PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE. BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, THAT ORDINANCE NO. 1873 OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, IS HEREBY AMENDED AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1: Delete Sections 1 and 2 in their entirety. SECTION 2: Add new Section 1 as follows: CREATED; COMPOSITION; APPOINTMENT OF MEMBERS. There is hereby created and constituted The Henry Shelton Sanford Memorial Library and Museum Board, which shall consist of nine (9) persons to be appointed and confirmed by the City Commission. SECTION 3: TERMS; ORGANIZATION; OFFICERS; MEETINGS. The members of The Henry Shelton Sanford Memorial Library and Museum Board created by this article shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years; three (3) of the initial members of the Board shall be appointed for a term of three (3) years, three (3) of the initial members of the Board shall be appointed for a term of two (2) years, and three (3) of the initial members of the Board shall be appointed for a term of one (1) year; thereafter the terms shall be three (3) years. Members shall serve until the expiration of their term or until their successors are duly ~ppointed, or until their death, resignation or removal. Immediately upon appointment, the members of the Board shall meet and organize and shall elect from among the membership a chairman, a vice-chairman and a secretary, whose terms of office shall be for a period of one (1) year or until their successors are elected by the memebers of the Board. The Board shall conduct such meetings as may be necessary to properly perform its duties and functions and shall establish rules or bylaws to govern the manner in which its meetings and affairs are conducted. SECTION 4: If any section or portion of a section of this ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitu- tional, it shall not be held to impair the validity, force or effect of any other section or part of this ordinance. SECTION 5: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby revoked. SECTION 6: That this ordinance shall become effective immediately upon its passage and adoption. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 9th day of Nov~mb~ , A.D. 1987. MAyOR~~'~ ~ity of Sanford, Florida.
