1616 ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING SECTION 22-16(o) OF THE SANFORD CITY
CODE, AS AMENDED, SAID SECTION PROVIDING FOR
POLITICAL SIGNS BY PERMITTING CANDIDATES TO
DISPLAY SIGNS 60 DAYS PRIOR TO AND 7 DAYS AFTER
FINAL ELECTION; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CON-
FLICTS, AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 22-16(o), The Code of the
City of Sanford, Florida, as amended, providing for political
signs by permitting candidates to display signs 60 days prior
to and 7 days after final election, be and the same is hereby
amended to read as follows:
(o) Political campaign signs. Signs announcing
candidates seeking public office and other
date pertinent thereto shall be permitted
up to a total of nine (9) square feet for
each premise in a residential zone and
thirty-two (32) square feet in a commercial
or industrial zone. These signs shall be
confined within private property and not be
less than fifty (50) feet from the curbline
of any street intersection. The signs may
be displayed thirty (30) days prior and
seven (7') days after the election for which
intended. In case where a final election
following within sixty (60) days of a primary
election, those candidates who won in the pri-
mary election may continue to display their
signs during the interim period and up to
seven (7) days after the final election.
Candidates may display signs sixty (60) days
prior to and seven (7) days after the final
election. A temporary sign permit shall be
acquired for each sign.
SECTION 2: If any section or portion of a section of
this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional,
it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force
or effect of this Ordinance.
SECTION 3: That all ordinances or parts of ordin-
ances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4: This ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
