AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
A~NDING CHAPTER 28, SECTION 28-24, a TttRU c,
AND SECTION 28-25, a THRU b, THE CODE OF THE
CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AS AMENDED, SAID
SECTIONS PROVIDING FOR A SCHEDULE OF WATER AND
SEWER RATES; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CON-
FLICTS AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD,
FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: That Section 28-24, a thru c, The Code of
the City of Sanford, Florida, as amended, providing for a sche-
dule of water rates, be and the same is hereby amended to read
as follows:
(a) Water furnished by the city shall be paid for
upon the basis of a mimimum of two thousand
(2,000) gallons of water furnished monthly to
each user of water, whether such amount is
used or not.
(b) Water furnished by the city shall be paid for
monthly by the users thereof according to meter
measurement at the following rates:

(c) Fire hydrant rental shall be at the rate of fifty
dollars ($50.00) per year per hydrant. (Ord. No.

SECTION 2: That Section 28-25, a thru b, The Code
of the City of Sanford, Florida, as amended, providing for a
scheduleof sewer rates, be and the same is hereby amended
to read as follows:
(a) There is hereby established a uniform schedule of
rates and charges for the use or availability for
use of the sewer system of the city, based upon
the monthly quantity of water used for single-
family residences, as follows:

Note: Users other than single-family residences, using
over ten thousand (i0~000) gallons, shall be
charged one hundred twenty-five (125) per cent
of the water billing for that period.
(b) There is hereby established a sewer charge for in-
dustrial waste based upon the following formula:
Rs =Rw + (O.002 x (BOD - 200)Rw )
For the purpose of the foregoing formula the
following definitions apply:
Rs = Sewer Charge
Rw = Water Charge
BOD = Biochemical oxygen demand in ppm (a mea-
sure of waste strength)
Users outside the city limits shall pay an addi.
tional twenty-five (25) per cent of the amount de-
rived from the above formula. (Code 1954, ~21-14;

SECTION 3: If any section or portion of a section of
this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconsitutional,
it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity, force
or effect of any section or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 5: That this Ordinance shall become effective
the 1st day of September, A.D., 1981.
