1550 ORDINANCE NO. 1550
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
FOR THE CITY MANAGER TO SERVE THE POLICE AND
FIRE DEPARTMENTS IN AN ADMINISTRATIVE CAPACITY;
PRESCRIBING THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF
SUCH ADMINISTRATIVE WORE, AND RESCINDING ORDIN-
ANCE NUMBER 1117, ADOPTED APRIL 9, 1973; PRO-
VIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND EFFEC-
TIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, it is the opinion of the City Commission that
it is necessary that said position be maintained on a permanent
basis and that the city manager perform administrative functions
pertaining to the Police and Fire Departments as hereinafter set
forth.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION l: Ordinance Number 1117, Adopted April 9,
1973, is hereby rescinded.
SECTION 2: The city m~nager shall have administrative
duties and responsibilities only in the administration of the
Police and Fire Departments, which sai~ duties shall consist of
the following:
A. Personnel records including transfers, terminations,
payroll entries and medical records and payroll ap-
proval.
B. Purchasing procedures including the approval of
vouchers for expenditures and purchasing procedures
including the preparation of specifications for
bids on vehicles and equipment and invitations to
bid.
SECTION 3: The city manager shall be directly respon-
sible to the City Commission and his duties and responsibilities
to the Police and Fire Departments shall be in an administrative
capacity only.
SECTION 4: If any section or portion of a section of
this Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitution-
al, it shall not be held to invalidate or impair the validity,
force or effect of any other section or part of this ordinance.
· SECTION 5: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflict herewith, be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 6: That this Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upDn its passage and adoption.
