1362 ORDINANCE NO. 1362 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 19-1 OF TIlE CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA° THE SAME BEING KNOWN AS THE PLUMBING CODE. SAID AMENDMENT ADOPTING THE 1976 REVISION TO THE 1975 EDITION OF THE STANDARD PLUMBING CODE WITH THE FOLLOWING AMENDMENTS: A1VLENDM ENT OF SECTION 1212.1 (b) OF THE STANDARD PLUMBING CODE AS TO THE USE OF MATERIALS FOR WATER DISTRIBUTION; AMENDMENT OF TABLE 505 TO DELETE CERTAIN NON-METALLIC ]PIi~ING MATERIALS FOR PLUiViBING INSTALLATIONS; AMENDMENT OF SECTION 1215.8 (a) OF THE STANDARD PLUMBING CODE AS TO SAFETY PANS AND RELIEF VALVE WASTE. BE IT ENACTED BY THE FEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA: SECTION 1. That Sub-section (b) of Section 1212.1 of the 1976 Revision to the 1975 Edition of the Standard Plumbing Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "(b) Under Ground -- Inaccessible water distribution piping under slabs shall be copper water tube minimum type L 194 Standard water tube~ brass, lead, cast iron pressure pipe or galvanized steel pipe, all to be installed with appropriate approved fittings: Galvanized steel and type L cooper tube and 194 Standard water tube shall be protected when used under floor slabs in corrosive soils. All ferrous pipe and fittings shall be coated with coal tar enamel or other coating approved for such purpose. All threaded joints shall be coated and wrapped after instal- lation. Copper water tube under slab shall be a continuous loop, or all approved fitting must be silver soldered." SECTION 2. That Table 505 of the Standard Plumbing Code entitled "MATERIALS FOR PLUMBING INSTALLATIONS" is amended by deleting from the list of materials Bituminized Sewer Pipe & Fittings and Concrele Sewer Pipe. -1- SECTION 3. That Sub-section (a) of Section 1215.8 of the 1976 Revision to the 1975 Edition of the Standard Plumbing Code is hereby amended to read as follows: "1215.8 -- SAFETY PANS AND RELIEF VALVE WASTE (a) When water heaters or hot water storage tanks are installed above the ceiling level, the tank or heater shall rest in a galvanized steel or other metal pan of equal corrosive resistance having a thickness at least equal to 24 gauge galvanized sheet steel. SECTION 4. The 1976 Revision to the 1975 Edition of the Standard PlUmbing Code, as prepared by the Southern Building Code Congress International, Inc. as amended, is hereby adopted by the City, and a copy of said 1976 Revision to the 1975 Edition of the Standard Plumbing Code~ as amended, is filed in the office of the City Clerk as a matter of permanent record of the City~ and the matters and contents therein are made a part of this Ordinance by reference as fully and completely as if set forth herein, and such copy shall remain on file in said office available for public inspection.
