Project No. 95-1163 Canterbury Concepts Lot #32 Sanford Central Park November 21,1995 SAMPLING PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION Five (5) - ten (10) foot, standard penetration borings and five (5) - ten (10) auger borings were performed on the referenced site. The location of the borings are show on the Boring Location Plan. The test borings were drilled with a power drilling rig to perform field standard penetration tests for the determination of: 1. Subsoil relative density or consistency. 2. The extent of each deposit encountered. The standard penetration tests (ASHTM D-1586) were made at frequent intervals, never more than five (5) feet apart, by driving a standard 1.5 inch I.D. split barrel penetration spoon eighteen 18) inches into undisturbed soil by blows from a one hundred -forty (14) pound drop hammer falling thirty (30) inches. The penetration resistance in blows per foot of penetration was logged and appears on the Boring Logs of this report. DYNAMIC TESTING &ENGINEERING, INC. Project No. 95-1163 Canterbury Concepts Lot #32 Sanford Central Park November 21, 1995 REVIEW OF ENCOUNTERED SOILS The soils encountered on the referenced site can be general classified as black sandy muck, light brown fine sand, dark gray sandy clay, brown slightly clayey fine sand, black sandy organic peat, yellowish -brown fine sand and light gray fine sand. The water table was encountered between 0.7 to 1.0 feet below the existing ground surface during the drilling operation. The relative density of the soils is loose to medium dense. Project No. 95-1163 Canterbury Concepts Lot #32 Sanford Central Park November 21,1995 RECOMMENDATIONS Based on our analysis of foundation soils and soils profile, the following is recommended: 1. The entire building area, including minimum margin of 5.0' outside the building area be cleared and stripped to remove all existing vegetation, topsoil and other deleterious material. 2. The stripped building pad area and parking area should be excavated to a depth of at least 1.0 feet below the existing ground. Stockpile all suitable excavated material on the site. The entire cleared area including the excavated areas should be leveled, wetted to saturation and then compacted by means of moderately heavy vibratory roller (3 to 5 tons). 3. A sufficient number of overlapping passes should be made in at least two directions across the entire building pad area so as to uniformly compact the in -place soils to a minimum density equivalent to 95% of their modified proctor maximum dry density (AASHTO T-180) as tested to a depth of 2.0' below the stripped and compacted grades. 4. All fill required to elevate the building pad area to be common or designated finished floor slab subgrade should consist of soils containing not more than 15.0% of fines (silty or clays) passing a #200 sieve, and the fill should be placed in uniform layers not exceeding 112.0 inches loose. Each layer of fill should be systematically and uniformly compacted in the manner and to the degree specified above. 5. All other material excavated from designated areas could be used in green areas. 6. A designated representative from Dynamic Testing & Engineering should inspect the excavated areas and test all compacted surfaces to insure that the in -place soils, together with all fill are uniformly and sufficiently densified as recommended above. DYNAMIC TESTING & ENGINEERING, INC. f Project No. 95-1163 Canterbury Concepts Lot #32 Sanford Central Park November 21,1995 SUMMARY Subject to the above recommendations, the site is considered satisfactory for spread or continuous footing's subject to an allowable soil pressure of 2,500 pounds per square foot. The analysis and recommendations submitted in this report are based upon the data obtained from the soil borings performed at the locations shown on the attached plan. This report does not reflect any variations which may occur over the remaining portion of the subject site. The nature and extent of variations over the site may not become evident until during the course of construction. If variations then appear evident, it will be necessary for a re-evaluation of the recommendations of this report after performing on site observations during the construction period and noting the characteristics of any variations. This investigation and analysis covers only the soil zone and deposits normally influenced by the proposed construction. It is not intended to include deep soil or rock strata where caverns may exist. Furthermore, this study does not deal with the possibility of eventual sinkhole development at the site. Deep structural borings, geophysical investigations, or resistivity surveys would have to be conducted in order to evaluate the structural condition and stability of soil and rock formations and it beyond the scope of our investigation.
