1261 ORDINANCE NO. 1261
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
A1VIENDING SECTION 7-7 OF THE CODE OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, SAID A1VIENDM ENT CHANGING
TI-IE PLACES OF GENEi~AL AND SPECIAL ELECTIONS TO
ALLO~V ELECTIONS TO BE I-IELD AT POLLING PLACES
DESIGNATED BY THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY
OF SANFORD, FLORIDA.
WHEREAS, the City Commission by Resolution No. 1167 dated
the 27th day of September° 1974, designated certain precincts within the
City of Sanford as polling places for the drainage bond election to be held
on November 5, 1974, and
WHEREAS, it has been brought to the attention of the City
Commission that Section 7-7 of the Code of the City of Sanford requires
that all general and special elections in the City shall be held in the Civic
Center° and
WHEltEAS, Chapter 166. 041 (3) (bL Florida Statutes, authorizes
the governing body of a municipality to enact an emergency Ordinance with
a two-thirds vote without complying with the requirement that a proposed
Ordinance be read on at least wo separate days, and
WHEREAS, the City Commission deems ~he passage of this
Ordinance as an emergency since it is the desire of the Commission that
the bond election be held at the precincts designated in said Resolution° and
also because of the lack of time for two separate readings of said Ordinance
prior to November 50 1974.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORDo FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. That Section 7-7 of the Sanford City Code is hereby
amended to read as follows:
"All general and special elections in the City shall
be held at such places as may be designated by the
City Commission."
SECTION 2. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in
conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECTION 4. That this ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon its passage and adoption.
