AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN FORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING ARTICLE XXI, SECTION 2-431, OF THE CITY'S
CODE OF ORDINANCES, TO REDEFINE THE FUNCTIONS
OF THE DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT;
TO AMEND ARTICLE III, SECTION 2-37, TO REDEFINE THE
FUNCTIONS OF THE DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING
AND PLANNING; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY,
CONFLI~3TS, CODIFICATION AND EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford finds it to be in the best
interest of the City to amend Article XXI, Section 2-431, of the City's Code of Ordinances,
to redefine the functions of the Department of Community Development; and
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford finds it to be in the best
interest of the City to amend Article I~1, Section 2-37, of the City's Code of Ordinances, to
redefine the functions of the Department of Engineering and Planning,
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE .CITY OF
SAN FORD, FLORIDA;
SECTION 1: Section2-431, Department of Community Development, ofArticle XII,
of the City's Code of Ordinances is hereby deleted in its entirety and amended to read as
follows:
"Section 2-431. Department of Community Deve, lopment.
The Department of Community Development shall incorporate
the following functions: neighborhood revitalization, housing
programs, grants research and administration, code
enforcement and condemnation/demolition."
SECTION 2: Section 2-37, Department of Engineering and Planning, of Article
of the City's Code of Ordinances is hereby deleted in its entirety and amended to read as
follows:
"Section 2~37. Department of Engineering and Planning.
The Department of Engineering and Planning shall incorporate
the following functions: strategic planning, engineering,
survey, project management, zoning, land development
review, building, occupational licensing, concurrency, historic
preservation, mapping and geographic nformation systems"
SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY If any section or portion of a section of this
Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair
the validity, force or effect of any other action or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4: CONFLICTS That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 5: CODIFICATION ~t is the intention of the City Commission of the
City of Sanford, Florida, and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance
shall become and be made a part of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Sanford,
F~orida; th.at the Sections of this Ordinance may be tenumbered or relettered to accomplish
such intention; that the word, "Ordinance," may be changed to "Section," "Article," or other
appropriate word.
SECTION 6: EFFECTIVE DATE That this Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon passage and adoption.
