AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AMENDING CHAPTER 2, ADMINISTRATION, OF THE
CODE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA, ARTICLE
III, SECTION 2-37, DEPARTMENT OF ENGINEERING ,43qD
PLANNING, TO INCLUDE THE FUNCTIONS OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT;
DELETING ARTICLE XXI, DEPARTMENT OF
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, TO ELIMINATE THE
DEPARTMENT OF COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT;
PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS,
CODIFICATION, AND EFFECFIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Commission of the City of Sanford, Florida, finds it to be in the
best interest of the City to redefine the functions of the Depamnent of Engineering and Planning
to include the functions of the Department of Community Development, to rename the
Department of Engineering and Planning, and to eliminate the Department of Community
Development
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1: Section 2-37, Department of Engineering and Planning, of Axticle III,
Department of Public Works; Public Utilities; Recreation and Parks; Engineering and Planning,
of Chapter 2, Administration, of the City' s Code of Ordinances is hereby mended to read as
follows:
'~:tion 2~37. Department of Planning and Community Development.
The Department of Planning and Community Development shall incorporate the
following functions: strategic platruing, engineering, survey, project
management,. zoning, and development review, building, occupational licensing,
concurrency, historic preservation, mapping and geographic information systems,
neighborhood revitalization, housing programs, grants research and
administration, code enforcement and condemnation and demolition."

SECTION 2: Article XXI, Department of Community Development, of Chapter 2,
Administration, of the City' s Code of Ordinances is hereby deleted in its entirety.
SECTION 3: SEVERABILITY If any section or portion of a section of this
Ordinance proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional~ it shall not be held to impair
the validity, force, or effect of any other action or part of this Ordinance.
SECTION 4: CONFLICTS That all Ordinances or parts of Ordinances in conflict
herewith be and the same are hereby revoked.
SECTION 5: CODIFICATION It is the retention of the City. Commission of the
City of Sanford, Florida and it is hereby ordained that the provisions of this Ordinance shall
become and be made a part of the Cede of Ordinances of the City of Sanford, Florida~ that
the Sections of this Ordm_ance may be renumbered or relettered to accomplish such intention;
that the word, "Ordinance," may be changed to "Section," "Article," or other appropriate
word.
SECTION 6: EFFECTIVE DATE Titat this Ordinance shall become effective
immediately upon passage and adoption.
