AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA
DESIGNATING 2018 MELLONVILLE AVENUE, LEGALLY
DESCRIBED AS LOT 4 AND THE SOUTH 20 FEET OF LOT 3,
GROVE MANORS SUBDIVISION, AS A HISTORIC LANDMARK
WITHIN THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA; PROVIDING
SEVERABILITY, CONFLICTS AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the residence at 2018 Mellonville Avenue was erected in about
1889 by John Dodd, a shopkeeper, in the frame vernacular style; and
WHEREAS, the residence was renovated in the 1920's by Jesse Spurling in the
classical revival style; and
WHEREAS, the residence has historical, architectural and cultural significance
to the community; and
WHEREAS, the residence has been restored by the present owners to its 1920's
neoclassical grandeur; and
WHEREAS, the City of Sanford Historic Preservation Board has recommended
that 2018 Mellonville Avenue be designated a historic landmark;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF
SANFORD, FLORIDA:
Section 1: That the statements above are tree and correct and are incorporated
herein by reference.
Section 2 Loeal Landmark Designation: That the property and building
owned by Michael and Ana Yebba, located at 2018 Mellonville Avenue and legally
described as Lot 4 and the South 20 feet Of Lot 3, Grove Manors Subdivision, are hereby
desiguated as a local historic landmark within the City of Sanford.

Section 3 Signage: That a suitable sign or marker shall be located on or near
the property indicting that the property has been designated an historic landmark.
Section 4 Severability: If any section or portion of a section of this ordinance
proves to be invalid, unlawful or unconstitutional, it shall not be held to impair the
validity, force or effect of any other section or part of this ordinance.
Section 5 Conflicts: All ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict with this
Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 6 Effective Date: This ordinance shall become effective immediately
upon its passage and adoption.
