1. Review /accept/ratify the returns of the March 6, 2001 Regular Election as submitted by
the Canvassing Board; and declare the winner in the Mayor's race OR the individuals to
be in the Run -Off Election and declare the winner in District 1.
2. Authorize payment to the poll workers of the March 6th Election. (Seminole County paid
$110.00 to Clerks, and $90.00 to Inspectors and Deputies.)
3. Appoint the poll workers and authorize the Mayor to execute the Proclamation calling for
a Run -Off Election on March 20, 2001, if necessary.
4. Other business.

Commissioner Eckstein moved to accept and ratify the returns of the March 6, 2001 Regular Election. Seconded
by Commissioner Williams and carried by vote ofthe Commission, as follows:

The Commission congratulated Mayor Elect Lessard, District 2 Conunissioner Williams, and District I
Commissioner Elect Art Woodruff for their election victories.
Commissioner Williams moved to autboriu payment to the poll workers of the March 6, 2001 Regular Election,
as follows: $110.00 to the Clerks and $90.00 to the Inspectors and the Deputies. Seconded by Commissioner Jones and carried
by vote of the Commission as follows:

Mayor Dale thanked Seminole County Commissioner McLain for coming to the defense of a move to exempt
downtown Sanford from any Courthouse activity. [Commissioner Eckstein left the meeting.] Commissioner McLain, Chairman
VanDerWeide, and Commissioner Morris made it emphatically clear that they would not be moving the Courthouse from
Sanford and would go back to the drawing board and would not bring the item back before the Board for consideration. Mayor
Dale also thanked Commissioner McLain for his service as County Commissioner for the past eight years and for his continued
service over the next four years.
Mayor Dale said he hopes that the Commission will continue to empower the Commission Liaison position
because Diane Crews has really done a lot of work The position was originally supposed to be a part time administrative
secretary to the Commission and the City Manager, but was reclassified and turned into more than a fiiH time job working for
the Commission. She has been of tremendous help and assistance as an ombudsman, trouble shooter, problem solver, efficient
scheduler, and special project worker.
Commissioner Williams echoed Mayor Dale's sentiments and said that Diane is invaluable. She also thanked
Commissioner McLain for his support.

Mayor Dale - asked how oacn tic City Charter is reviewed_ City Clerk Dougherty reported that there is no set
time, that the Comtnission can have it reviewed anytime it mshcs. Mayor Dale said he thought that by home rule legislative
action that the Cliatter lead to be reviewed every so oflen. The Commission discussed enhancing elections to increase voter
turnout, moving elections to coincide with county /state /federal elections in November, and having the same polling places for
City elections as for county/state federal elections. The City Clerk said that she would check with the City Attorney on the
necessary procedures.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 11:45 A.M.
