Ad pub Iisbed Nov. 14, 2 010. [Commission Memo 10 -217] Vice Mayor Woodruff` moved to approve the first reading of Ordinance No. 2010 -4225. Seconded by Commissioner Williams. After further discussion, both Vice Mayor Woodruff and Commissioner Williams withdrew their motion. ,Assistant City Attomey Groot opined that the Commission could strike Section 2.A and proceed with enacting this ordinance, then core back with the prohibition of duplexes in SRI zoning district. Seconded by Vice Mayor Woodruff and eatTied by vote of the Commission as follows: Mayor Kuhn Aye Vice Mayor Woodruff A Commissioner Williams Aye Commissioner Jones Aye Commissioner Mahany Aye 9) CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT. 10) CITY CLERK9S REPORT. 2010-321 CITY COMMISSION MINUTES NOVEMBER 22, 2010 REGULAR MEETING 11 CITY MANAGER'S REPORT. nte6m City Manager Tom George commended Bilal Iftikar, City Engineer /Acting Public Works Director as well as Public Works staff for working to off- set costs that are currently exceeding 20 million on the Sanford Manufactured Gas Plant. Mr. George thanked Vice Mayor Woodruff and Christine Dalton, Community Planner, for traveling to Tallahassee last week in support of the Historic Preservation Grant application for Hopper Academy. The City is ranked 8 out of 49 and felt this was due to their efforts. Mr. George asked the Commission for authorization to approach the owners of Hopper Academy in hopes of assuming ownership of the facility. There was a consensus of the Commission for Mr. George to proceed to obtain ownership of Hoppe Academy. 12) CITIZEN PARTICIPATI4N. Samuel Duncan asked several questions regarding the Sanford Housing Authority, availability of foreclosed hones for housing the homeless, the Sanford Civic Center and the Federal government plan for "rapid rehousing ". Mayor; Kuhn responded to his questions. Thelma Mike stated she appreciated all that Mayor Kuhn and Vice Mayor Woodr have done and thanked them for doing a "good job ". 1 CITY COMMISSIONERS' RE oR S. Commissioner Williams responded to Mr. ncan's questions. 2010-322 CITY COMMISSION MINUTES NOVEMBER 22, 2010 REGULAR MEETING Commissioner Mahany asked both Mayor Kuhn and Vice Mayor Woodruff what they considered as their accomplishments. Vice Mayor Woodruff responded that these items will be included in his closing comments on December 13, 2010. Mayor Kuhn stated that the completion of the Public Safety Complex was certainly one of the many items she had seen to fruition. Mayor Kuhn stated that "Touch and Go" was a huge success and urged all who have not seen the play to attend in March when it returns. Mayor Kuhn stated she had written a letter to President Obama supporting the appointment of Skip Dalton, a Sanford native (attorney), for a federal judgeship for the Middle District and just received word today he was being considered. 14) END THE MEETING.
