AN ORDINANCE ASSESSING AND IMPOSING ON EVERY INSUR-
ANCE COMPANY, CORPORATION OR OTHER INSUROR NOW
GAGED IN OR CARRYING ON, OR WHO SHALL ~r~.W~AFTER EN-
GAGE IN OR CARRY ON, THE BUSINESS OF INSURING PROP-
ERTY AGAINST LOSS OR DAMAGE BY FIRE OR TORNADO, AN
EXCISE TAX IN ADDITION TO ANY LICENSE OR EXCISE TAX
NOW LEVIED, AMOUNTING TO ONE (1%) PER CENT OF THE
GROSS AMOUNT OF RECEIPTS OF PREMIUMS FROM POLICY
HOLDERS ON ALL PREMIUMS COLLECTED ON FIRE AND TOR-
NADO INSURANCE POLICIES COVERING PROPERTY WITHIN
THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA,
AND APPROPRIATING THE HONEYS DERIVED FROM SUCH TAX
TO THE FIREMENtS RELIEF AND PENSION FUND.
B! iT E~AC~ BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF SANFORD, FLORIDA:
SECTION 1. There is hereby assessed and imposed on every
insurance company, corporation or other insurer now engaged in
or ~arrying on, or who shall hereafter engage in or carry
the business of insuring property against loss or damage by fire
or tornado, an excise or license tax amounting to one (1%) per
ce~t of the gross amount of receipts of premiums from policy
holders on all premiums collected on fire and tornado insurance
policies covering property within the corporate limite of the
City of Sanford, Florida.
SECTION 2. Ail money derived from the taxes imposed by
this ordinance is hereby appropriated to the Firemen's Relief
and Pension leu~ of the City of Sanford, Florida, which shall be
administered in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 19,112,
Laws of Florida, Acts of 1939, providing for the Creation and
Administra%ionof a Firemen's Relief and Pension.Fund in certain
Cities and Towns.
SECTION 3. The license tax herein assessed and imposed
shall in addition to all other license taxes now levied by
the Ciof Sanford, Florida.
S~0N 4. The excise or license tax herein provided for
shall ~ayable and collected in the manner provided for by
Chapte~,ll2, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1939, providing for
the Cre. on and Administration of a Firemen's Relief and
Pension~nd in certain Cities and Towns.
SE(ON 5. That all ordinances or parts of ordinances
in conflt herewith be and the same are hereby repealed.
SECON 6. That this ordinance shall become effective
immediaty upon its passage and adoption.
